The Queen Of Bavaria’s Tiara

Dated at about 1830 this stunning work of art is the tiara made with diamonds, rubies, spindles and gold of the consort of King Ludwig I of Bavaria Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen had been born in the Duchy of Saxe-Hildburghausen in 1792 she married the heir to the Bavarian throne in 1810 and they would have nine children.

She was very popular and was considered to embody an ideal image of queen, wife and mother. She was involved in a great number of charitable organizations for widows, orphans and the poor. She was the object of great sympathy during her husband’s infidelity with Lola Montez, which caused him to abdicate in 1848.
