Royal Avenue, Belfast.

I realised the other day that I haven’t posted very much about Ireland but I am going to put that right by beginning to introduce some Irish entries while I was born and still live in Wales I am very proud of my Irish roots though none lie in Belfast my family hailed from Cork and Dublin.

While Belfast’s main shopping district was a popular target of IRA attacks in the seventies and eighties, most of the buildings in this image are still standing after all this time, this colorized photograph was taken between 1890 and 1900.
