King Richard II of England was the Grandson of King Edward III, by his eldest son Edward, Prince of Wales and his wife Joan of Kent. He was just ten years old when his grandfather died in 1377 and he succeeded to the English throne.

He reigned for twenty two years before being dethroned by his cousin Henry of Bolingbroke, son of his uncle John of Gaunt.
